Our mission

Our mission is to inspire awareness, respect and passion for the oceans

  • A window to the Red Sea

Established in 1975, the Park was built so that visitors could explore the wonders of the Red Sea in a new and exciting way.

Our founders, the Kahn family, who spent many diving trips in Eilat, had a vision of a revolutionary kind of aquarium - an underwater observatory where visitors can enjoy up-close encounters with coral reefs, without getting wet. As the first land-based, underwater tourist attraction, we enjoyed immediate success.

Established in 1975, the Underwater Observatory Eilat was built so that visitors could explore the wonders of the Red Sea in a new and exciting way.

Initially they constructed the unique Underwater Observatory Tower, which today consists of two adjoining towers, the first erected in 1974 and the second larger one, in 1991.

With no nets around the towers to keep the fish and marine creatures close by, all our marine life come and live by the reef voluntarily, a testament to how our staff maintain the Israel coral reef and treat marine life with the utmost respect.

The Park's dive team continuously maintains the coral reef with great dedication and is only engaged in care and maintenance work (removing debris from corals, removing predators, 'mending' broken corals, etc.) they do not feed the fish and the area itself is designated as a nature reserve.

Over the years, attractions and displays have been added to the Park, and today it is considered one of Israel's leading visitor sites and Eilat's flagship attraction.

The Park is part of a global group of underwater viewing centers, owned by the Israeli company Coral World.

  • Preserving life in the Red Sea

We are dedicated to inspiring a true connection with nature, and to shed light on contemporary environmental issues in the sea, from overfishing to coral reef damage, in order to promote sustainability.

We put the welfare of the animals as our priority and the Park’s professional scientific team is engaged in constant research.

We are dedicated to inspiring a true connection with nature, and to shed light on contemporary environmental issues in the sea, from overfishing to coral reef damage, in order to promote sustainability.

We put the welfare of the animals as our priority and the Park’s professional scientific team is engaged in constant research.

We have breeding programs of marine life, such as coral propagation which reduces the stress involved when sourcing organisms from the sea. We also rehabilitate and assist in encouraging reproduction of other marine animals such as turtles, seahorses, butterfly fish and anemones.

The success of these projects allows us to release sea creatures that were raised and cultivated in the Park back into the wild - turtles, seahorses, and our signature project - corals raised by schoolchildren in Eilat and planted around the Observatory Tower.

Our knowledge, experience, investment and perseverance have made us a "bench-mark'' of quality and professionalism in the field of underwater sustainability, and raising ocean awareness.
